You have a point about the inconsistency of the “sin of empathy” framework. Wilson wrote an article (below) in which he tries to argue that Adam exhibited untethered empathy in the garden. Though at the end he tells us that it was Adam’s passivity that caused the fall. What’s odd is that, as you said, empathy is supposedly something women are more susceptible to. So in Wilson’s rendering Adam committed the masculine sin of being passive but in doing so was actually being effeminate and falling into the feminine sin of empathy. Or maybe by being empathetic, he was being passive. Either way you can see how the categories, especially the gendered aspect, have become confused. This article feels like a poor attempt to make the framework fit, but it simply does not.
Allie and her toxic empathy messaging live rent free in my brain, and surface even when uninvited. It’s one of those things I can’t even be eloquent about—it just bugs me, because it’s such gross misrepresentation of the gospel and because it’s so hypocritical.
I'm Christian, Canadian, and tend to lean more conservative then liberal, but dangggggggggggggggggggggg this ice stuff is pretty much exactly what it looks like, despite what these "Christians" are saying.
Also wanted to add, big issue here is that everyone, except those who were there, have limited data to work with. For instance, CNN claims that a witness from the school board claims the father and neighbors were actively telling the mom not to open the door.
Just like Hitler, Mao and others who thought they could create their own utopias, today’s Christian nationalists have fallen into that same hubris. The fact that they believe they are doing divine bidding strengthens their presumption that the ends (Christian utopia) justifies any means. That is why there is no low they will not defend (not even the murder of US citizens) and explains their continued Trump support through any scandal- he is a useful weapon they will cling to as long as they are still fighting for their utopian goals.
When you're raised to believe that an all-lovong diety will burn you for eternity if you believe in the wrong version of him, you become an adult who thinks that you can be bigoted and support destroying families and still claim to be the "loving" one.
Some people really will do anything to justify not loving their neighbour.
They will do so much!
They have empathy, they just choose to give it to the oppressors. Which is the opposite of what Jesus Christ did.

I hate it here.
